SKWC Summer Season Announced

Xander Clements June 2, 2014

After having recently launched a brand new universe of social media accounts and a re-formatted website, the Sim Karting World Championship has now set its sights on the upcoming summer season by the announcement of the two series set to race in it. The package is meant to host one class as a TaG Division, and the other as a Gearbox class.

Based on the final votes of the SKWC Admin Board, the Rotax Junior FR125 engine has been selected for the TaG class. This division will run first at each track, exactly one week before the Gearbox class would run. It will alternate weeks with the Gearbox class, over the course of 12 weeks, to create a 6-race championship, with each driver's 5 best results counting towards the overall point total. This will mean that each driver will have a drop race, with their lowest point total from an event in the season, whether it be a complete miss, or just a poor finish.

The Gearbox class was also announced, as it is set to use the KZ1 engine package. This is a six-speed engine with a reverse gear and neutral setting. It is a kart that comes with the main installation of the sim, whereas the Rotax Junior was modded by one of the SKWC Community's drivers. This series will race on Tuesday evenings, the same night that the Rotax Junior series is set to run on. The Rotax Series will race first, and the following week the KZ1 class will race at the same track. While they both will have the same schedules, the Rotax championship and the KZ1 championship are scored independently of each other.

Sign ups for both series as well as full schedules are posted in the forums section of the website, accessible to only those on the SKWC Approved Driver List, which is found in the "Welcome to SKWC!" section.
